Alan: wire tapping is just a modern facility; but espionage on friends as well as foes has been a common practice since Machiavelli times. Do you think Angela doesn't collect information about what is going on in the French Government on such or such issue? Of course, she must show herself worried once the affaire reached the public. But she isn't surprised, I can assure you.
