Berlin bewirbt sich mit vier anderen Ländern um Olympia 2036, 2040 oder 2044. Die hauptsädtischen Aspiranten wollen gemeinsam mit Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Sachsen und Schleswig-Holstein Olympische Spiele und Paralympics nach Deutschland holen.

Widerstand dagegen formiert sich bereits: Die Berliner Initiative "NOlympia" will ein Volksbegehren gegen Olympische Spiele in der Hauptstadt starten. Für ein erfolgreiches Volksbegehren müssen die Initiatoren zunächst 20.000 gültige Unterschriften sammeln. In einem zweiten Schritt wären etwa 170.000 Stimmen gegen das Vorhaben nötig.

Dann käme es zum Volksentscheid.

Berlin is competing with four other states to host the 2036, 2040, or 2044 Olympics. The main city candidates want to host the Olympic Games and Paralympics in Germany alongside Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, and Schleswig-Holstein.

However, opposition to this is already forming. The Berlin initiative "NOlympia" plans to launch a referendum against the Olympic Games in the capital. For the referendum to be successful, the initiators must first collect 20,000 valid signatures. Then, around 170,000 votes against the project would be required.

Then, a referendum would be held.
