US President Donald Trump pulls the plug. The government is freezing the billions in funding for charging infrastructure for the time being, which former President Joe Biden had launched in 2021.

The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program had set the ambitious goal of increasing the availability of charging stations so that a fast-charging station would be installed approximately every 80 miles in the country.

Three billion dollars had actually been budgeted for this. Elon Musk's e-car company Tesla - now one of Donald Trump's most important advisors - would also have benefited from this. Tesla is said to have already received a total of 32 million dollars.

Musk now has an outstanding electricity bill.
