Finally got to do my holiday card for 2016, I´m soo late :p
But after the Comic Con there was a lot to catch up with, especially orders for x-mas. Still in a few commissions but hopefully from next week things will slow down a bit.
I hope my holiday card finds you well, I hope 2016 was a good year for you as it was for me.
There is just to say thanks to you for the loyal support and I hope you stay on my side during 2017!

Oh Deer! Holiday greetings

Over the weekend I was able to get more into procreate and this is what came out. ;) Painting on the iPad is still differerent from painting in Photoshop. So I used a simple motif to get into drawing.

Skullified Homer

This is a skullified version of Homer Simpson.

The series is a long-term tribute, an approach to combine caricature, fan art, graphic design and pop art at the same time. This is what Iconography means to me and stands for on the cover of this book. I won´t recreate what has been done 1000 times before, but give my ideas room for expression. Skulls are timeless, fascinating and therefore perfect subjects for this revolutionary portraiture series.

Best Friends

Best Friends forever - A girl and her tentaculous friend.
This was another study based on a reference photograph (licensed from istockphoto) and in a way a tribute to my friend Serge Birault, whose best friends are also tentacles (what a coincidence:)

Actually I wanted to build the tentacle with Sculptris but ended up realizng that it is easier done painting directly in PS.
Had a fun time painting this, the tentacle is painted from scratch, the lighting and lower part of the girl is completely constructed upon the base and painted all over matching the realistic / comic style painting look.
