Americans buy up Canada
The Hudson's Bay Company, one of the oldest commercial corporations in the world was recently acquired by a U.S. based investment firm. Chartered by England's Charles II in 1670, the company controlled the fur trade in North America for several centuries before its territory became the main component for forming what we now know as Canada. The sale is seen by many Canadians as another part of cultural history being sold out to Americans.
